Barasch & McGarry Recognizes Lung Cancer Awareness Month

Every November, we recognize Lung Cancer Awareness Month — a time to highlight one of the most common cancers affecting the 9/11 community.
More than two decades after the attacks, thousands of responders, survivors, and downtown residents continue to face serious health consequences from exposure to World Trade Center toxins. Among the 69 cancers linked to 9/11 toxins, lung cancer remains one of the most frequently reported illnesses.
At Barasch & McGarry, we’re honored to represent the 9/11 community and to help families access the free health care and financial compensation available through the World Trade Center (WTC) Health Program and the 9/11 Victim Compensation Fund (VCF). Our team represents more than 1,700 members of the 9/11 community who have been diagnosed with lung cancer.
Early detection saves lives. We urge anyone who was exposed to 9/11 toxins to schedule regular checkups, even if you feel healthy. If you’re unsure whether you were within the exposure zone, see the 9/11 exposure map below.
It’s crucial to recognize early warning signs such as a persistent cough, coughing up blood, chest pain, hoarseness, fatigue, loss of appetite or unexplained weight loss.
If you or a loved one has been diagnosed with lung cancer or another 9/11-related illness, Barasch & McGarry can guide you through your options and ensure you receive the benefits you deserve. Please contact us by visiting 911victims.com or calling 844-710-4876.
