Barasch McGarry Honored by Congresswoman Maloney

February 25, 2016 | Michael Barasch

Michael Barasch was honored along with other 9/11 union leaders and advocates by Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney and Congressman Jerrold Nadler for their group effort in getting Congress to extend and reauthorize the Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act. The law was passed by Congress at the end of December 2015. It guarantees full payment of all Victim Compensation Fund awards, and healthcare for 75 years. Importantly, it also allows new claims to be brought to the Victim Compensation Fund for the next 5 years.

You should know that existing claimants have the right to amend their claims, and new claimants can apply if they are diagnosed with a World Trade Center-linked cancer within the last 2 years. Also, free healthcare is available from the WTC Health Program for the next 75 years.
