Breaking News: President Trump Signs Law Which Fully Funds and Permanently Extends the 9/11 Victim Compensation Fund

July 29, 2019 | Michael Barasch

This morning I was honored to be invited to the White House to witness the historic signing of the law which fully funds and permanently extends the 9/11 Victim Compensation Fund.

In addition to the legislators who sponsored the bill, the ceremony included families of our clients Jimmy Zadroga and Ray Pfeiffer, as well as Luis Alvarez. Many important labor leaders (from fire, police, construction) were there.

9/11 advocates, including John Feal and dozens of his FealGood Foundation team (with whom the Barasch & McGarry crew walked the halls of Congress over a dozen times), were also present. Lee London, Managing Attorney of the firm’s World Trade Center practice, Richie Alles, Director of 9/11 Community Affairs, and Bridget Gormley, 9/11 Community Outreach Coordinator, were all invited to attend and meet the President.

I was honored to have been allowed to attend the signing with so many people from my firm. I am thrilled that this bill has finally become law. This is long overdue and a wonderful relief for the entire 9/11 community. Now we can focus our efforts on educating the 9/11 community, many who are still unaware of the benefits to which they are entitled, and getting justice for the people who were sickened by the WTC toxins.

With deepest respect,

Mike Barasch
