First RespondersWTC Health ProgramVictim Compensation Fund

A New Year’s Message from Michael Barasch

December 29, 2022 | Michael Barasch

As we approach 2023, I want to sincerely thank you for everything you do for the 9/11 community, in particular spreading the word to the forgotten victims of 9/11.  Because of clients like you, thousands of retired responders, family members who have lost loved ones, as well as downtown residents, workers and former students have learned that they too are eligible for free health care and compensation for their 9/11 illnesses.  I am inspired by how deeply the 9/11 community cares for each other.

I am not just your attorney. I am also part of the 9/11 community.  I want to assure you that I will not rest until Congress fully funds the WTC Health Program, which confronts an enormous deficit in the coming years.  In January, I will be in Washington, D.C. with union leaders and other 9/11 advocates, to meet with Congressmen and Senators. We will remind them of their promise to “never forget” and their pledge to honor their commitment to take care of those who were sickened by the WTC toxins which the EPA assured us was “safe to breathe.”

As an aside, we are proud to have partnered with the FBI and the Salvation Army on a successful Christmas clothing and toy drive. These donations brought smiles and warmth to many children and families. It also made the people at my office feel great!

It is a true honor and a privilege to represent the 9/11 community. We are blessed to be able to help so many people every day.  We wish you a peaceful and meaningful New Year.

With deepest respect,

Mike Barasch
