DEADLINE: JUST 60 DAYS LEFT FOR ACTIVE AND RETIRED 9/11 CONSTRUCTION WORKERS AND FIRST RESPONDERS WITH PROSTATE CANCER TO REGISTER FOR COMPENSATION

August 19, 2015 | Michael Barasch

Please be aware that there is a critical deadline for all construction workers and first responders who worked at the WTC site. Anyone diagnosed with PROSTATE CANCER between September 11, 2005 and Sept. 11, 2013 must register with the Victim Compensation Fund (VCF) by October 21, 2015.

In fact, anyone with a certified World Trade Center illness who spent time at the following sites is eligible for health care and compensation under the Zadroga Health and Compensation Act: Ground Zero, the Fresh Kills Landfill, the Morgue, aboard any of the transport vehicles, and residents and office workers south of Canal Street. The Zadroga Act, which Congress passed into law in 2011, established the VCF, which has now given awards in excess of $1 Billion to claimants whose illnesses have been linked to the WTC dust.

The WTC Health Program has linked 68 cancers to the WTC toxic dust. There is a presumption that if you have been diagnosed with one of those cancers, it was due to your exposure. You should also know that cancers diagnosed after 9/11/13, including prostate cancer, must be registered within two years of the date of the diagnosis.

Please help spread the word. Don’t let anyone you know with WTC-prostate cancer miss the October 21, 2015 deadline. If you have any questions, or need help with your claim, feel free to contact the law firm of Barasch & McGarry at (888) 351-9421. All consultations are free and confidential. Barasch & McGarry are the attorneys for Detective Zadroga’s family and they represent more 9/11 first responders than any other law firm.
