Governor Cuomo Announces State to Ensure Continued Benefits For Volunteers With 9/11-Related Illnesses

Mike Barasch applauded Gov. Cuomo’s pledge to continue benefits for sick 9/11 volunteers. “While it’s only a commitment for the 2016-17 State Budget, the decision to continue coverage of lost wages and health care is welcome news to the thousands of sick volunteers who depend on this aide. To treat these selfless volunteers any differently than the paid first responders would have been a callous and heartless act”, said Barasch whose law firm represents hundreds of sick volunteers. “These men and women were exposed to the same toxic dust as the firefighters and cops. They deserve medical care and financial compensation as well.”
