Biography
Robert Barasch is an attorney and the Director of Strategic Development at Barasch & McGarry, where he leads the firm’s strategic initiatives with a focus on innovation, operational excellence, and long-term growth. As a member of the firm’s next generation of leadership, Robert is committed to preserving its legacy of fierce advocacy while ensuring it continues to evolve — and to serve — at the highest level.
Robert grew up in New York City watching his father, Managing Partner Michael Barasch, fight relentlessly for those affected by the September 11th terrorist attacks. He always admired his father’s dedication, but one moment made the calling undeniable. When the September 11th Victim Compensation Fund was permanently extended, Robert accompanied his father to Washington, D.C., for the celebration. There, a client undergoing cancer treatment — wearing an oxygen mask — approached them and said he did not know how he would have survived his battle without Michael Barasch fighting for him. That moment crystallized something for Robert: compassionate, determined legal representation doesn’t just win cases — it changes lives. He has carried that belief into everything he does at the firm.
Before joining Barasch & McGarry, Robert deliberately sought business experience to complement his passion for service. He spent two years as a consultant at PwC advising clients on business transformation and operational strategy. He brings that background, along with his legal training and MBA, to his leadership role at the firm.
As Director of Strategic Development, Robert is focused on building the infrastructure, systems, and partnerships that allow the firm to deliver exceptional representation at scale. He operates from a simple conviction: every operational improvement frees up more time and resources to advocate for clients. His current initiatives reflect that philosophy. He is leading Project Ruby, a firmwide transformation effort in partnership with consulting firm Slalom that is modernizing the firm’s business processes and technology. He is spearheading the development of a nationwide attorney referral network to connect clients with trusted counsel for legal matters beyond the firm’s core practice areas. And he is overseeing the expansion of the firm’s Miami office, broadening Barasch & McGarry’s reach and ability to serve clients across the country.
Robert graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Amherst College, where he majored in History and International Relations and finished in the top ten percent of his class. He went on to earn his J.D. and M.B.A. from the University of Miami School of Law, graduating magna cum laude. During law school, he served as a Certified Legal Intern with the State Attorney’s Office, where he gained firsthand courtroom experience under attorney supervision. He is admitted to practice in Arizona, Connecticut, Florida, North Carolina, and Texas, as well as before the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida and the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. Notably, he passed both the New York and Florida bar exams in the 99th percentile.
Outside the office, Robert serves on the Executive Board of the Young Leadership Division of the Greater Miami Jewish Federation and on the board of United Hatzalah, supporting initiatives that strengthen Jewish communities in Miami, across the United States, and in Israel. Having lived in both Japan and Denmark, he is proficient in Japanese and brings a genuinely global perspective to his work and community involvement. In his free time, he enjoys traveling, discovering new restaurants, golfing, spending time at the beach, attending live performances, and being with family and friends.
